Police are yet to establish the official death toll in the early Tuesday morning road crash in Akumadan

At least six people were burnt beyond recognition in an early Tuesday morning road crash on the Akumadan-Nkenkanso road in the Ashanti Region.

Twenty-two others are in critical condition, the District Chief Executive for Offinso North, David Kwasi Boakye Asare, told Asaase News.

It is unclear what might have caused the accident but eyewitnesses said the incident occurred after a Kumasi bound bus run into a KIA Rhino at the police check point in the area.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service have been at the scene to douse the fire.

Police are yet to establish the official death toll.

Meanwhile, some residents and drivers who ply the road have asked for intensified road safety education to avert future occurrences.
