“Tell them I am dead” comment: I goofed, forgive me, says Bosome Freho DCE

In a statement, the DCE for Bosome Freho, Yaw Danso, says he gave a cheeky answer to a journalist because he thought the conversation was off the record

Yaw Danso, the district chief executive of Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region has apologised over a cheeky response he gave to a journalist concerning recent happenings in his district.

Twenty-two assembly members in the Bosome Freho district are pushing for a no-confidence vote in the DCE, accusing him of instigating divisions and hoarding resources meant for assembly members.

When a journalist called for his reaction and silence over the allegation, Danso said: “Tell them I am dead,” sparking uproar among locals in the district.

The DCE has since apologised for what he termed a “sarcastic” comment.

In a statement, he said he presumed the conversation was off-the record because he is on such terms with the reporter.

Sarcastic comment

“The interview for all intents and purposes was not to malign or disrespect my honourable assembly members and by extension the good people of Bosome Freho and Ghanaians at large,” said Danso.

“It was a sarcastically made utterance with Agyeiwaa Kordie, a news reporter from a media house that I have a personal relation with. I presumed the conversation was off-the record so I made a joke which has turned out to be an expensive one.”

“Notwithstanding, I unreservedly apologise for saying “tell them I am dead” and plead with Nananom from Bosome Freho, my distinguished assembly members, the good people of Bosome Freho and Ghanaians to pardon me for my goof,” he added.
