Vessel sinks in Elmina, one feared dead

Three people on board the vessel have been rescued and are undergoing treatment

One member of a fishing crew is feared dead after their vessel sunk between Elmina and Takoradi.

The dead person is part of a five-member crew who were travelling to Takoradi. Their vessel was tossed by violent waves amid heavy rains and thunderstorms.

Three people on board the vessel have been rescued according to reports.

The Ghana Navy has dispatched rescue boats to search for a missing crew member of the vessel.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the name of the vessel is Menghxin 11, a Chinese vessel.

The vessel reportedly sunk in the small hours of Saturday (7 May).
