Ghana shines on Super Bowl stage as Akufo-Addo’s vision sparks global attention

The brainchild of President Nana Akufo-Addo, Ghana’s newfound openness to the diaspora was on full display at the Super Bowl

Amid the glitz and glamour of the Super Bowl half-time show, a different kind of spotlight shone on the global stage. As millions tuned in, an advertisement showcasing the beauty and vibrancy of Ghana captured the hearts and minds of viewers worldwide.

The brainchild of President Nana Akufo-Addo, Ghana’s newfound openness to the diaspora was on full display.

Kow Essuman, the counsel to president, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to extol President Akufo-Addo’s vision, highlighting how his policies have transformed Ghana’s image on the world stage.

The advert, courtesy of the National Football League (NFL) and crafted by a talented team led by J Owusu, served as a powerful testament to Ghana’s allure as a destination for both cultural enrichment and economic opportunities. It was a showcase of Ghana’s rich heritage, warm hospitality and promising future.

“There is no doubt that this will remain as one of the legacies of @NAkufoAddo and his government,” Essuman tweeted on Monday (12 February).

From the star-studded Global Citizen concert in 2022, where international icons such as Usher and SZA graced the stage, to the festive vibes of Detty December, which has welcomed the likes of Meek Mill, Ludacris and Davido, Ghana has become a magnet for talent and creativity from across the black diaspora.

Under the leadership of Akwasi Agyeman, the Ghana Tourism Authority spearheaded the #VisitGhana campaign, inviting the world to experience the wonders of the country first hand. The campaign not only bolstered tourism but also fostered cultural exchange and economic growth.

As the advertisement aired before an audience of over 115 million viewers, Ghana’s star shone brighter than ever on the global stage. Essuman added that, thanks to President Akufo-Addo’s visionary leadership, Ghana had seized the moment and consolidated its status as a beacon of opportunity and hospitality in Africa.
