TUTAG suspends strike

The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) has urge all members in the 10 public universities to resume work on Monday

The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) has suspended its strike with immediate effect, an officials statement has said.

It comes after the conclusion of negotiations on internally generated fund-related conditions of service, off- campus and vehicle maintenance allowances between the government and labour unions.

TUTAG on 18 November declared an indefinite strike over what it describes as government’s failure to address a litany of demands including new rates for fuel allowance to reflect current economic conditions.

In a statement on Saturday (10 December), TUTAG urged all members in the 10 public universities to resume work on Monday 12 December.

“Following conclusion of negotiation on internally generated fund-related conditions of service, off-campus and vehicle maintenance allowance and pursuant to the memorandum of agreement signed between the government team and labour unions (TUTAG, UTAG, GAUA and TEWU), we announce the suspension of the strike declared on Monday 18 November 2022. The suspension takes effect immediately.”

“We therefore urge all members in the 10 public universities to resume work on Monday 12 December 2022,” the TUTAG statement said.
