Upper East: REGSEC bans use of motorbikes in Bawku

The move, according to the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), has been necessitated by the deteriorating insecurity situation in Bawku

The Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has banned the use of motorbikes in the Bawku municipality in the Upper East Region.

The new restriction comes weeks after the RESEG imposed restrictions on the use of motorbikes to lift male residents within the municipality.

According to the RESEG, the deteriorating insecurity situation in the area necessitated the ban.

In a statement, the REGSEC said tricycles, which are a popular means of transport in most parts of the Upper East Region, have, however, been exempted.

The RESEG has directed the Bawku Municipal Security Council to enforce the ban immediately.
