VIDEO: Meet Akua Owusua, a female ride-hailing driver

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on Monday, Owusua said: "Money was my main motivation for venturing into the ride-hailing business"

Akua Owusua, a female driver in the ride-hailing service has advised her female colleagues to consider venturing into that sector because it is lucrative.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (20 March), Owusua said: “Money was my main motivation for venturing into the ride-hailing business.”

How it began

“I was running a shop and by then, I was having this small car. I had someone who takes care of the shop for me, and when I go to the shop, I don’t do anything. So, I decided to try it, and when I started, I realised the ride-hailing business fetches more than the shop.”

“Since I started driving, I have not encountered any dangerous situations … And unlike the stereotype, I would like to encourage women to go into the driving business if they have a passion for it,” Owusua added.
