Walewale youth celebrate Bawumia’s victory

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia garnered 118,210 votes, representing 61.47%, beating his main contender, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a Member of Parliament for Assin Central, who obtained 71,991 votes, representing 37.41%

The Walewale Youth Association (WAYA) in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region has congratulated the Vice President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for winning the NPP flagbearer race to lead the party into the 2024 general elections.

The youth group feels ecstatic to see one of them earning such an enviable position as the flagbearer of the NPP, who engraved the name of Walewale on the historical map of the world and deems it necessary to celebrate him.

Former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Owusu Afriyie-Akoto, garnered 1,459 votes, representing 0.76%, while Francis Addai-Nimoh polled 781 votes, representing 0.41%.

The total number of rejected ballots recorded was 900.

The youth group, in a press statement, said, “The youth of Walewale wish to congratulate H. E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his election as the flag bearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). You are the epitome of humility and dexterity and with your enormous experience as the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, we do not doubt that you will deliver in your new role.

“As a proud son of Walewale and for that matter, Mamprugu, you have engraved the name of Walewale on the historical map of the world and we, your kinsmen, bask in that glory and walk with our shoulders high,” the statement said.

“There is no doubt that your humbleness, hard work, and dedication to duty are the virtues that have earned you this enviable position. We pray fervently that the Almighty Allah blesses your new role and grants you more wisdom and fortitude to deliver your mandate,” the statement added.
