“Wicked politics” by two main political parties affecting Ghana’s development, says IDEG boss

Speaking to Beatrice Adu on TownHall Talk on Asaase 99.5 on Friday (21 April), Akwetey said "They put us at risk, our country could have gone down in flames because of violence from these two parties."

Dr Emmanuel Akwetey, the executive director of the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), has expressed disappointment with what he describes as ” wicked politics being practised by the two main political parties in the country – the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Akwetey said this is serving as a big hindrance to the socio-economic development of the country.

Speaking to Beatrice Adu on TownHall Talk on Asaase 99.5 on Friday (21 April), Akwetey said “They put us at risk, our country could have gone done in flames because of violence from these two parties.”

“Because if they had competed against the delivery of development goals, and they made us understand that we are a nation, that would have been a different thing in the policies they pursue.”

Akwetey added, “They have been wicked to each other, and we are talking about ex-gratia and so on, do you know when our lawmakers leave, they don’t get a job anywhere again because of politics?”
