2024 WAFCON qualifiers: Black Queens beat Rwanda 5-0

Having won the 1st keg 7-0 in Kigali on Friday, Ghana had a simple task to win in front of the home fans to advance to the next stage of the qualifiers

Ghana completed the double over Rwanda with a 5-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium to advance to the second round of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on a 12-0 aggregate score.

Having won the 1st keg 7-0 in Kigali on Friday, Ghana had a simple task to win in front of the home fans to advance to the next stage of the qualifiers.

A hat-trick from Alice Kusi in the 22nd, 26th and 37th minutes put  the Queens in a comfortable position before Evelyn Badu made increased the tally with the 4th goal in the 42nd minute.

The Rwandans came in stronger in the second half but their efforts yielded nothing as the Black Queens kept their composure to stop the visitors from causing any havoc.

Stella Nyamekye added the 5th goal in additional time to give Nora Hauptle’s side a rampaging victory against the visitors.

The result means Ghana are through to the second round of the qualifiers on a 12-0 aggregate score and look set to meet Namibia in the final round of qualifiers in November this year.

The winner of the game between Ghana and Namibia will qualify for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
