Ada: 29 in court for seizing police weapon

A statement says the suspects took two police officers hostage for more than three hours and assaulted them

At least 29 suspects have been arraigned in court for assaulting two police officers and seizing a riot control weapon and a box of ammunition at Luhor, a community near Sege in Ada, the police said in a statement.

The officers were responding to a distress call at Electrochem Ghana Ltd at Luhor, when they came under attack from some members of the community who blocked the road leading to the company.

A statement issued by the police on Wednesday (27 October) said some of the suspects took the police officers hostage for more than three hours and assaulted them.

They later seized the riot control weapon and destroyed a police vehicle.
