Adisadel College housemaster and student suspended over assault

A statement issued by the Ghana Education Service on Monday (24 July) commended officials at Adisadel for suspending the culprit involved pending investigation

The housemaster of Quaque House at Adisadel College in Cape Coast, Ekow Holman, has been interdicted pending investigations into an assault on a student by a senior fellow student which was captured in a video clip that has since gone viral.

The victim’s head was hit against a metallic bed frame in the dormitory where the assault took place, leaving him with a swollen face.

A statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced that the culprit has also been suspended while investigations take place.

The GES has directed its regional director of education to liaise with Adisadel to delve into the case.
“The attention of management of Ghana Education Service has been drawn to a disturbing video of assault involving two students of Adisadel College being circulated on social media,” a statement from the GES said.
“Management is deeply concerned and condemns this barbaric act of violence in our schools. We applaud the authorities for taking swift action to suspend the culprit pending further investigation.
“Ghana Education Service assures the general public that we are taking this matter very seriously and are committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students across the country,” said the statement, which was signed by the head of the GES public relations unit.
