Afro Nation festival fever grips music lovers

The Afro Nation festival touted as the biggest and best Afrobeats celebration in the world returned to Ghana after a two-year hiatus

The most anticipated music festival – Afro Nation, kicked off on Thursday (29 December) with great performances.

Day one of the event took place at Marine Drive, Black Star Square -a site of cultural significance where thousands rediscover their historic connection with Ghana.

The event did not miss attendance from people from the diaspora, and guests who were visiting Ghana for the very time, including people from across Ghana.

Ghana’s Songbird, Gyakie and highlife singer, Kuami Eugene opened the show with wonderful and heart-warming performances that got the audience cheering along.

South African singer, Kamo MPhela also came through with an energetic performance, from beginning to the end.

Nigeria’s ladies’ men, CKay and Oxlade, also marvelled at the ladies with their soothing performances.

Other artistes billed for the event including, Meek Mill and P-Square, also gave in their best to keep the audience and fans entertained.

Visibly elated fans who could no longer hide their excitement shared their views on the performances of the various artistes.

“I couldn’t be less excited than I am today, I love every artiste that came up there and gave out their best. Shoutouts to them all,” one fan said.

“It’s my first time spending Christmas in Ghana and I must say, it’s such a wonderful experience. I love Gyakie so much and she’s one of my favourites in Ghana,” another said.

“Kamo MPhela was super great and I really love the performance she pulled out there, with all that energy and vibe, oh my God that was so so great,” another fan stated.

Security

The event ground had a solid security system right from the entrance down to the event grounds.

The safety of the audience was paramount and all measures were put in place to prevent any stampede.
Ambulance service was made available to attend to the healthcare needs of anyone who needed it or in the case of any unfortunate circumstances.
