Mayaga Hotel records huge turnout for “Annual All White Party” despite disagreements

The "Annual All White Party" event had always drawn huge crowds of music lovers from Navrongo and its environs every year

The 2022 edition of the “Annual All White Party” held at the Mayaga Hotel in Navrongo on Thursday (29 December) recorded huge patronage irrespective of a sharp division that resulted in the event being organised differently at two venues.

As the original home of the event, hosting it for nearly a decade, Mayaga Hotel enjoyed patronage from both the young and old including notable personalities of great repute in Navrongo.

The popular event, which has become a household name in Navrongo and a favourite on the events calendar, is organised on 29 December annually.

Patrons were treated to good food, drinks and thrilling performances from popular music artistes including Parechris, AlaptaWan, Rapcha Pagabu, Lyrical VIbes and George Kliff.
Sensational singer, PareChris opened the stage with his hit bangers and held the gathering on their feet for over 45 minutes.

He performed his newly released single “white ambience’ to which the cheering crowd responded positively.
He gave the baton to Lyrical Vibes who continued the thrill with some dancehall tunes and acapella. Lyrical Vibes earned the admiration of lovers of dancehall and reggae music.

Dancehall diva AlaptaWan came in with a thunderous entry to heat up the ground. She kept the crowd screaming for more especially after dropping her newest trendy single “Odeeshi”. She later did a duo with rapper Rapcha Pagabu before exiting the stage.

Rapcha Pagabu, the “Oga kpata kpata” hitmaker did not disappoint as he maintained the heat with another thrilling performance. The adored rapper got mobbed by fans who could not hold themselves together.

Jogobu George Kliff ended the performances for the night with a grand entry to the stage. He sang his popular “Tampougotu” single to the admiration of the crowd who responded in equal measure.
Division

This year, the event suffered a deep crack within the team of organisers which almost ruined it.
As 2022 drew to an end introducing the festive season, disagreements began to emerge from the organisers of the event premised on the patrons holding capacity of the Mayaga Hotel.

According to details gathered by Asaase News, one part of the organisers reportedly argued that the event, which has gained popularity over the years, had outgrown the capacity of the hotel, suggesting that the event be moved to a new, more spacious venue.

The other part, which is the Mayaga Hotel, however, did not share in the suggestion, arguing that the facility had the needed capacity to hold any number of patrons.

Mayaga Hotel instead urged more effort to be invested into the event to give patrons the utmost enjoyment and satisfaction.

The unresolved misunderstanding among the organisers deepened, leading to a separation.

Different venues

While the first group moved their event to the auditorium of the C.K Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, the management of Mayaga Hotel, who had already made preparations for the event and for that matter could not afford to lose their investment, also went ahead to hold the event at the hotel.

In her opening speech, Mary Ayaga, the owner and manager of the Mayaga Hotel said, “we have been organising the event together for a long time but this year, they (other organizers) decided to get a new venue without even telling me. I only got to know about it later through someone. I have also put in a lot to make the programme what it is today and if there was a problem, we could have handled it nicely. ”

“But in all of it, I am not angry because they are my children and there is no problem.”

She said although the division has impacted the patronage the event enjoyed over the years, she was impressed by the numbers at the hotel.

She thanked the gathering for patronising her event and assured that her doors are still open to working with event organisers regardless of whatever she had been put through.

Mayaga Hotel, the organisers, with over three decades of experience in hospitality, have promised a more enjoyable event next year.
