Akatsi North: Government supports 56 persons with special needs

The beneficiaries were given financial assistance to foot their medical and school bills. Others were also given items such as deep freezers, fridges, cassava graters

The government has given support including financial assistance to at least 56 persons with special needs in the Akatsi North District of the Volta Region.

The beneficiaries were given financial assistance to foot their medical and school bills. Others were also given items such as deep freezers, fridges, cassava graters, sewing machines, designing machines, knitting machines, hairdryers, roofing sheets and plastic chairs to run their businesses.

Presenting the items to the beneficiaries, the DCE for the area, Simon Peter Kofi Ofosu admonished community members to patronise the services of the beneficiaries to sustain their businesses and livelihood, and eschew discrimination against them.

He said the government is committed to empower persons with special needs in order to face the current economic challenges.

The district social welfare officer, Isaac Abanga, encouraged beneficiaries to have confidence in themselves and make good use of the items as the department will continue to embark on regular visits into the communities to assess the progress of their operations.
