Titus Agyei Akomeah, popularly known as DJ Raennie, said the award will boost his confidence and spur him on to be more ambitious

Story Highlights
  • "The advice I have for other DJs is that they shouldn’t give up because we all started from somewhere small. They should learn from other DJs in order to grow. They should improve upon their craft. We all need to work on our brands as well to clear the negative perceptions about DJs. We can change the narrative by dressing well and by being different and unique."

DJ Raennie of Asaase Radio (99.5 FM) over the weekend won the DJ of the year title at the Face of Ghana Youth Awards (FOGYA).

The award seeks to honour, empower, and recognise hardworking individuals and groups making meaningful impacts towards Ghana’s socio-economic growth.

Titus Agyei Akomeah, popularly known as DJ Raennie, said the award will boost his confidence and spur him on to be more ambitious.

“I’m representing two brands which is Asaase brand and DJ Raennie’s brand. This award has boosted my confidence in pursuing other projects very important to me,” he told Asaaseradio.com.

Beginning of new things

“The award challenges me to do more to win more awards. This is the beginning of new things to happen, especially in working on my brand and most importantly in projecting the image of Asaase Radio,” he added.

DJ Raennie advised other DJs to keep working on their craft to promote the disc jockeying profession.

“The advice I have for other DJs is that they shouldn’t give up because we all started from somewhere small. They should learn from other DJs in order to grow. They should improve upon their craft. We all need to work on our brands as well to clear the negative perceptions about DJs. We can change the narrative by dressing well and by being different and unique,” he said.

DJ Raennie also used the opportunity to show gratitude to his fans. “It shows that my fans have confidence in me hence their massive support and votes. I won’t let them down. I will rather do more to achieve more.”

He also encouraged his fans to keep supporting his craft and brand.

“I want to encourage my fans to keep voting for me anytime I’m nominated for any award, keep having faith in me, you guys keep me going and I will never fail you, I will continue to elevate the brand.”
