Asaase’s Caroline Sampson named among 100 most impactful change makers

Caroline Sampson’s 'Help Somebody’ campaign believes in helping people in need of the simple things in life

The Humanitarian Awards Global (HAG) has recognised Ghanaian media personality and founder of ‘Help Somebody’ campaign, Caroline Sampson, for her positive impact on the lives of people.

She has been named among the 100 most impactful change makers in Ghana for 2022.

The award is to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of the nation’s most influential and accomplished individuals doing humanitarian work and are committed to improving lives and preserving the environment through their work and businesses.

Sampson’s ‘Help Somebody’ campaign believes in helping people in need of the simple things in life.

Speaking with Asaase 99.5 Accra‘s Winifred Lartey about the recognition, Sampson said “it’s actually crazy for me that I’m getting recognised for something I started in 2012.”

The HAG Dream believes that by putting the spotlight on these humanitarian efforts, it will not only celebrate them but also help build a strong platform for them by giving voice and opportunities to the next generation of industry pacesetters while building a positive attitude.

‘Help Somebody’ campaign

The host of Café 995 on Asaase 99.5 Accra said, she promoted the ‘Help Somebody’ campaign heavily on radio, TV, and print and got a lot of people to come out to donate.

According to the media personality, she’s pleasantly surprised by the recognition from HAG Dream.

“For someone who doesn’t document her good deeds, I’m really surprised I’m getting recognition now. It’s not a foundation, it’s not a charity event; it’s just a campaign I started in 2012 called Help Somebody.

“I hit the streets every Christmas to give food, water, and money to the beggars out there, and some celebrities joined in to show their support,” she said in reference to the campaign.

The campaign is intended to raise awareness of the need for people to help, saying, “it’s not a job for only the rich.”

Sampson added that helping people should not always be about having a lot of money.

“It’s not always about money, a piece of advice can go a long way in touching someone’s life. Anything at all you can do in your small way to help will go a long way toward changing someone else’s life,” she said. “You don’t have to wait to have enough to help. Helping people should be an everyday thing.”
