Boako: Measuring productivity must be a priority in Ghana

Boako believes such move is crucial in enhancing growth and ensuring value for money in both public and private sectors of the country

Dr Gideon Boako, the economic advisor and spokesperson to Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasised the need to institute measures aimed at measuring productivity in the private and public sectors in Ghana.

Boako believes that such a move is crucial in enhancing growth and ensuring value for money in both public and private sectors of the country.

“I am looking to a time in Ghana where companies should be able to measure the effectiveness of their employees in terms of productivity,” Boako said on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (12 April)

“We should be able to have ministerial, departmental productivity measuring metrics so that we can measure each sector and industry to it,” he told host Kwaku Nhyira-Addo.

Boako added: “Because the private sector becomes the engine of growth the economic activity revolves around the private sector that’s where jobs are created.”

“That’s why the political mantra over the years has been that let’s do things that will spur growth in the private sector for them to in turn make money and create jobs.”
