Bortianor: Three-storey church building collapses

Unconfirmed report said seven members of The Word in Action Church are trapped in the debris near the Bortianor Polyclinic

A three-storey church building in Bortianor in the Greater Accra Region collapsed on Tuesday (9 May), eyewitnesses said.

Unconfirmed report said seven members of The Word in Action Church were trapped in the debris near the Bortianor Polyclinic.

A Ghanaian journalist, Stephen Anti, wrote on Facebook that “they have been rescued alive but one is critically injured.”

Personnel of the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are currently at the scene searching through the wreckage.

The cause of the collapse is yet to be established.
