C.K Akonnor releases three players from Black Stars camp

Awako, Nortey and Ganiyu return their respective clubs.

Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has released three players from camp to join their respective clubs.

The three players; Gladson Awako of Great Olympics, Rashid Nortey of Medeama S.C, and Abdul Ganiyu of Asante Kotoko will return to their respective clubs for the weekend’s matches in the Ghana Premier League.

Awako’s return to Great Olympics will dampen Phobian hearts ahead of Sunday’s derby match versus Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium. However, Great Olympics will be without midfielder Samuel Ashie-Quaye who is currently in Japan with the Black Meteors.

Abdul Ganiyu’s sudden availability to the Kotoko fold should lessen the blow of losing goalkeeper Razak Abalora to the Black Stars. Ganiyu is expected to feature in central defense when title-chasing Asante Kotoko play Ashantigold S.C in Obuasi on Sunday.

Medeama SC’s Rashid Nortey returns in time for the derby visit of Karela United.

The trio will return to the Black Stars camp after the weekend’s matches to continue preparation for the International friendlies.

The Black Stars will play Moroccos on June 8 in Rabat before hosting Ivory Coast on Saturday, June 12 at the Cape Coast stadium.
