Central Region: 76-year-old woman burnt to death in Komenda

The deceased woman, Ama Mansima, was trapped in a fire that razed part of the Zion Prayer Ministry’s premises on Thursday

The charred body of a 76-year-old woman has been recovered by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) after dousing a fire at the Zion Prayer Ministry in Komenda in the Central Region.

The woman, Ama Mansima, was trapped in a fire that razed a part of the Zion Prayer Ministry premises in the small hours of Thursday.

The woman, a congregant of the church housed in the facility, could not join the prayer meeting that night and was in her room when the fire outbreak occurred.

Eyewitnesses say they heard cries for help and rushed to the scene, only to realise the place was on fire. All efforts to save the woman proved futile.

Her body has since been deposited at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. The cause of the fire outbreak is still not known, though Fire Service personnel suspect an electrical fault.

Fire alert

Detective Officer III Jacob Krakue of the Komenda District Fire Command confirmed the incident to Asaase News.

He said the Fire Service was alerted to the fire outbreak when it received a phone call reporting a blaze at the premises of the Zion Prayer Ministry.
