Davis Cup: Australia finish off Finland to reach finals
Alex De Minaur moved Australia into an unassailable 2-0 lead against Finland after overcoming Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets. They will face the winners of the second semi-final between Italy and Serbia in Sunday's final.
Australia are through to the Davis Cup final for the second year in a row.
They beat Finland in the first of the semi-finals in Malaga, winning both singles rubbers in straight sets for a nil victory on Friday.
World number 12 Alex de Minaur cruised past Emil Ruusuvuori 6-4 6-3 to seal a 2-0 win for Australia.
Alexei Popyrin had beaten 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 Otto Virtanen in the first singles rubber.
The captains agreed not to play the doubles rubber after Australia’s victories in the singles contests.
“For us this cup is a priority. We do everything we can to represent Australia, with pride and passion,” said Alex de Minaur.
They face the winner of Serbia versus Italy in the second semi-final in Malaga on Saturday, with Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner set to play central roles.`
