Ghana secured an automatic qualification to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in the men’s 4×100 metre relay race on Sunday, May 4.

Despite a stumble with a baton drop on Day One of the World Relays in the Bahamas, the Ghanaian team bounced back with a stellar performance, clocking a season-best time of 38.29 seconds to clinch first place.

How Ghana punched relay ticket to Paris Olympics

In Heat Two of the second Olympic qualifying round, the quartet comprising Joseph Paul Amoah, Isaac Botsio, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Benjamin Azamati faced off against formidable opponents from Nigeria, Korea, Saudi Arabia, the Dominican Republic, and the Netherlands on Day Two.

Team Ghana got off to a strong start, with Fuseini accelerating out of the blocks and smoothly passing the baton to Botsio.

With impressive teamwork, they maintained their lead as Azamati powered through the third leg before handing over to Amoah.

Amoah, known for his exceptional speed, surged ahead on the anchor leg, replicating his stellar performance from the 2023 African Games.

Joe Paul’s unstoppable sprint ensured Ghana’s victory, securing their ticket to Paris in spectacular fashion.
