Ebo Whyte to youth: Sex is not “hit and run” affair

Uncle Ebo Whyte says young people must understand that sex is not a hit and run affair

James Ebo Whyte, a respected relationship counsellor has advised young people to take the issues of sex seriously and not just off-the-cuff matter in life.

Speaking with Naa Ashorkor on Between Hours on Asaase Radio Monday (4 October), Ebo Whyte said, “Sex is your highest form of communication to the person who means the most to you. If we can understand that in sex, it is not just a hit and run which especially young men have; it is not meant to be used to take advantage of anybody; it is that I have somebody who means everything to me and sex is my way of …communicating that person just how much she means to me as a man…”

Touching on the matter of casual sex, he said “They do not understand what it is [causal sex]; I can understand that as human beings they have edges and they haven’t learned to control that but it is a contradiction of terms to say casual terms…

“…And quite often in relationships especially the new kind of relationship – friends with benefits; eventually one person gets hurt…”

The renowned Ghanaian playwright, author and motivational speaker also advised young people to look beyond love when they are looking for partners.

He said it takes more than love, adding it takes “respect, thoughtfulness, and humour. You must have humour otherwise both of you will lose your mind or one of you will kill the other.
“Humour defuses a lot of situations…” he added.
