EC to hold Ejisu by-election 30 April

As of now, no other political party has officially declared its interest in participating in the by-election. However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has indicated that it is still deliberating on whether it will field a candidate for the by-election.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the by-election in Ejisu, triggered by the passing of Dr John Kumah will take place on Saturday (30 April 2024)

Dr John Kumah, aged 45, who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, succumbed to a brief illness, leaving behind a wife and six children.

All nine individuals aspiring to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primary in the constituency have been given the green light by the vetting committee. This decision was reached on Saturday (6 April 2024).

Nominations for the NPP primary were opened on Tuesday, 2 April 2024, and all nine aspirants submitted their candidacy by the closing date on Thursday (4 April).

The NPP is scheduled to select its parliamentary candidate for the constituency on Saturday, 13 April 2024.
