Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show season 7 winner, Ijeoma Otabor, known as Phyna has disclosed that she borrowed US$87 (40,000 Naira) to enable her to enter the competition.

Phyna, who won the show, last year took home a US$216,048 (N100m) grand prize – a cash prize of N50m and N50m worth of prizes from the sponsors.

“I didn’t have a house before, but now I have a house,” she said on the Between Hours show on Asaase 99.5 Accra. “I actually borrowed money before entering the house.”

“I borrowed money from my friends, I borrowed 40,000 Naira. I used it to buy clothes, I think entering the house I had about 7,00 Naira in my account but coming out I made about 4.2 million Naira,” Phyna told the host Naa Ashorkor.

Phyna added: “I was shouting, I have never seen millions before, when they gave me my phone, they said that this is the remaining money after voting and all.”

About Big Brother Naija

Big Brother Nigeria later known as Big Brother Naija is the Nigerian version of the popular television series Big Brother,

Housemates live together for a specified time in a specially constructed house that is isolated from the outside world. The Housemates vie to be the last person standing so that they can win the prizes Biggie has to offer. Housemates are closely monitored 24/7 on cameras through their various trials and tribulations, which is why Biggie’s eye is used in the logo: he is always watching.

Housemates are required to nominate fellow Housemates for the weekly eviction show. The Housemate with the most votes is announced and the audience is invited to vote. Thereafter, the Housemate with the most votes will be evicted in a weekly show on Sunday evenings. The last person standing is declared the winner.
