EPL Matchweek 30: Partey cameos as Arsenal grab point against City

Partey he is ready to give everything he can to the Arsenal team

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey made a cameo for Arsenal in their hard-fought 0-0 draw against Manchester City on Matchday 30 of the Premier League.

Partey, who has been sidelined with injury since October 2023, came on as a 66th-minute substitute for Jorginho.

The Ghana international impressed in his limited time on the pitch, completing 12 accurate passes and winning one ground duel.

This cameo appearance suggests Partey is building his match fitness in a bid to play a crucial role in Arsenal’s title push during the season’s closing stages.

“It’s been tough for me, being injured for a long time,” Partey told Arsenal.com ahead of the City clash. “But now I am ready to give everything I can to the team. Anything I can add to our level, I will do. I worked hard during my rehab to be able to come back to the level I need to be at. Now I want to get back with the team.”

Lamptey Features in Narrow Defeat for Brighton

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Ghanaian wing-back Tariq Lamptey started for Brighton & Hove Albion as they travelled to Anfield to face Liverpool. Despite taking an early lead through Danny Welbeck—who marked his 100th Premier League appearance for the Seagulls—Brighton ultimately fell short, losing 2-1 thanks to goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.

Lamptey played 70 minutes before being substituted for Facundo Buonanotte. The Ghanaian defender had a mixed performance, winning four out of five ground duels but losing possession on seven occasions and making only seven passes, although six found their target.

Semenyo Struggles Despite Bournemouth’s Win

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo had a forgettable game despite AFC Bournemouth securing a 2-1 victory over Everton.

The striker played the entire match on the right wing but struggled throughout. Semenyo misplaced the ball a worrying 24 times, only winning two of ten ground duels and failing to win any of his six aerial battles.
