FIFA development Office visits GFA

The visit is expected to equip the GFA with the necessary knowledge and direction to prepare future projects for presentation at the next AFCA or DevCo meeting of FIFA

A delegation from the FIFA Development Office for West & Central Africa arrived in Ghana on Tuesday (26 March) for a three-day working visit with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The team, led by Regional Manager El Hadj Wack Diop and Africa-Regional Coordinator of Member Associations Division Silmara Sousa, will hold meetings with GFA officials to discuss various aspects of football development in the country.

The visit’s agenda centres around a comprehensive review of the GFA’s Contract of Agreed Objectives for 2023–2026 (Strategic Plan).

Discussions will also delve into a pre-assessment of the 11 criteria outlined in Article 6 of the FIFA Forward Regulations, ensuring the GFA meets FIFA’s development programme benchmarks.

A critical focus will be placed on reviewing ongoing projects funded by the FIFA Forward programme, a vital initiative designed to accelerate the growth of football globally.

The delegation will explore avenues for strengthening the GFA’s Technical Department, particularly in the areas of women’s football development and the GFA’s Talent Identification Scheme (TDS). Discussions on FIFA High Performance programmes and the GFA’s action plan for utilising FIFA Forward funds will also be on the table.

These high-level talks are expected to equip the GFA with the necessary knowledge and direction to prepare future projects for presentation at the next AFCA or DevCo meeting of FIFA.
