Give musicians diplomatic passports for putting Ghana to the world, former French envoy says

She noted that their contributions to Ghana on the international stage were better than what the best ambassadors could do in a lifetime

Former French ambassador Anne Sophie Avé, is entreating the Government of Ghana to offer diplomatic passport to top Ghanaian musicians for pushing a positive image of the country on the global stage.

In a tweet on Sunday, 30 July, Anne Sophie, who made huge contributions to Ghana’s creative industry during her time mentioned the names of Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Shatta Wale, R2Bees and King Promise deserving the status.

“Ghana, you should give these guys diplomatic passports: they put Ghana to the world better than even the best ambassadors could in a lifetime @sarkodie, @stonebwoy, @blacksherif, @shattawalegh, @r2bees and @IamKingPromise”.

Anne Sophie latest call adds up to previous advocacy by several musicians including Sarkodie who have been urging the government to facilitate diplomatic visas for artistes due to the impact they have had on projecting Ghana’s image abroad.

Notably, Anne Sophie Avé played a pivotal role in organising the ‘Accra In Paris’ concert in 2022, which showcased Ghanaian musical talent in the heart of France.

On the bill of performing artistes at the highly anticipated concert which was held in Paris in April last year were Sarkodie Stonebwoy and Kwabena Kwabena alongside their french counterparts Passi and Orti.

The event served as a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian music, art, and heritage.
