Recruitment of doctors and dentists into the Ghana Health Service will begin officially next week. The news was announced by the Ministry of Health, which said qualified personnel can start applying from Monday 3 August 2020.
This announcement was contained in a public notice signed by the acting chief director of the ministry, Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari.
He explained that the recruitment drive will commence at 12 noon prompt on Monday. The deadline for applications is Friday 14 August 2020.
The public notice from the Ministry of Health said there are certain prerequisites that every applicant must meet to be considered for the job.
Oku-Afari said all applying doctors and dentists must ensure that they have duly completed their housemanship. They must also have been permanently registered with the Medical and Dental Council between May and July 2020.
The statement added that applicants must apply formally through the Ministry of Health’s online application portal.
It urged applicants to log in and follow the instructions on the website to select their preferred agency.
Second batch in three months
The move comes after a recent government announcement that it was recruiting nurses and midwives who completed their service in 2017.
In April, the chief director of the Health Ministry, Nana Kwabena Adjei-Mensah, released a statement calling on diploma and degree-level nurses and midwives to apply.
“The Ministry of Health wishes to inform 2017-trained diploma and degree nurses and midwives from accredited public and private health training institutions that recruitment into the service will commence Tuesday 10 April 2020 at 10am,” the statement said.
“Qualified nurses and midwives are requested to formally apply on the Ministry of Health online application portal by logging on to https://hr.moh.gov.gh and follow the instructions to select the preferred agency under the ministry for posting.”
