I miss Amandzeba’s style of music, says Appietus

According to the 28-year-old experienced producer, Amandzeba is a great highlife artiste and his contribution to the highlife industry will for long be indispensable

Music producer and sound engineer Appiah Dankwah, popularly known as Appietus, has said that he misses Amandzeba Nat Brew’s style of music due to the uniqueness of his sound.

According to the 28-year-old experienced producer, Amandzeba is a great highlife artiste and his contribution to the industry will for long be indispensable.

Speaking on Asaase 99.5 Accra‘s Between Hours show on Thursday (2 March), he said, “I miss Amandzeba; I think he should come back.”

“His type of music doesn’t exist unless he does it himself; the way he adds tradition, that style has vanished.”

“Amandzeba is one of the people I believe should consider returning to music,” Appietus said.

“Since he left, no one has done that type of music, which is a problem. I miss that type of music,” he told the host Naa Ashorkor.

“And George Jahraa and Obrafour; I don’t know why Obrafour stopped. The way Obrafour can do an highlife album, the voice he has, I don’t know who else has it.”

Music as a lucrative business

Appietus added that he disagrees with people who say music isn’t lucrative.

“Music is very lucrative,” Appietus said. “If it’s not going well for somebody, it doesn’t mean that the industry isn’t lucrative. I don’t think Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, or Stonebwoy will ever say music isn’t lucrative.”

He explained that when upcoming artistes say there is no money in the industry it stops investors from supporting the industry.

“People working in offices sometimes don’t even make as much as an artiste would make with one stage performance.”
