KNUST SRC president steps aside over misconduct

Abuah has been accused of deceiving the student body into believing he embarked on an educational trip to South Africa with some SRC executives

The management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has directed the president of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Michael Adofo Abuah to step aside from his position pursuant to ongoing investigations into allegation of misconduct.

“I write on behalf of the registrar to inform you to step aside as the president of the Student’s Representative Council (SRC) by close of today 25 August 2022, pending the outcome of the official investigations into the alleged matters,” the letter dated 25 August 2022 said.

The SRC president also in a statement indicates that together with his other executives “will be making preparations to step aside for the investigations to be completed.”

The SRC president added that he will be cooperating with the ongoing investigations.

Abuah has been accused of deceiving the student body into believing he embarked on an educational trip to South Africa with some SRC executives.

Checks show he never travelled with the group.

Abuah and the speaker of the SRC parliament have been asked to refund an amount of GHC9,100 intended to fund the purported educational trip.
