Former president John Mahama has led the National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegation to commiserate with ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor and his family following the death of Theresa Kufuor, the former first lady.
“We are all saddened by the passing of our respected mother, former First Lady Madam Theresa Kufuor,” Mahama said on Wednesday (4 October).
“She carried herself with dignity and was truly acknowledged by the people of Ghana as the mother of the nation,” he added.
Members of the delegation includes the national chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the chair of the NDC council of elders, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, members of the NDC council of elders and former the first lady Lordina Mahama.
Mahama signed the book of condolence on behalf of the NDC.
For his part, Kufuor said he is “so touched and very honoured that in spite of our different political outlooks, her passing has brought us together.”
