Mahama takes campaign to Eastern Region

The former President, John Mahama, commences a four-day tour of the Eastern Region on Thursday, 5 November 2020

The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, heads to the Eastern Region on Thursday (5 November 2020) to start a four-day campaign tour.

According to a statement from his campaign office, Mahama is scheduled to address chiefs, including Zongo chiefs and imams, in a number of constituencies during the tour.

Mahama, who will focus on key policies and promises in the Peopleā€™s Manifesto, will also meet and interact with farmers, traders, okada riders, artisans and drivers.

ā€œIn particular, he will highlight plans in the NDCā€™s manifesto to create jobs, ensure universal access to healthcare through the Free Primary Healthcare policy and his plan to implement Free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Free T-VET) and his partyā€™s proposed state sponsored National Apprenticeship Programme, which seeks to empower the youth with employable skills,ā€ the statement added.

ā€˜Iā€™ll be a better presidentā€™

Mahama has been appealing to Ghanaians to vote massively for him because he ā€œcan be trustedā€ and comes with a lot of experience.

ā€œGhanaians should choose John Mahama because heā€™s a person you can trust. What you see is what you get,ā€ the opposition leader stated in a recent interview.

ā€œI have the track record and I believe that having been president before, Iā€™ll make a better president in my second term,ā€ he added.

According to the former president, he regretted not ā€œspeaking directly to the people during my time in officeā€ and so that vacuum was filled with a lot of propaganda.

ā€œSo, this time when I come I will go round and directly speak to the people on what we are doing and some of our policies.ā€

The 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections will be held on 7 December 2020.
