Meet Sampson Addei, the 28-year-old Ghanaian CEO with 50 employees

Young Boakye Addei, who currently employs 50 workers, conceived the idea of establishing a yoghurt business while in Level 400 at the University of Cape Coast

The chief executive of Yogafresh, Sampson Boakye Addei is admonishing young entrepreneurs to prioritise offering quality products and services in order to grow their businesses.

Addei, who currently employs 50 workers, conceived the idea of establishing a yoghurt business while in level 400 at the University of Cape Coast.

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show to share some nuggets of wisdom on entrepreneurship on Tuesday (23 May), Addei said he used to look up to Nigerian entrepreneur and billionaire Aliko Dangote as a role model but not anymore.

“I started the yoghurt business in Level 400 of university because I knew that I wanted to do something for myself. I was looking up to Dangote when I was in the university, but after starting Yogafresh, I now look up to myself,” the 28-year-old said.

“Before I even entered the university, I knew the job market was tight,” Addei said. “There werenā€™t many jobs so I decided that I was going to start my own business.”

“There are a lot of products that start high quality and lose it along the way. The key to succeeding is [to] ensure that the quality of your product remains the same.”

About Sampson Boakye Addei

Addei originally hails from Asamankese in the Eastern region and Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

He was however born and bred in Ghanaā€™s capital Accra. Sampson had primary education at Dieudonne International School and then went to Kumasi Academy for his secondary education.

Addei is currently a graduate from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana with a bachelorā€™s degree in Geography and Regional Planning.

He had his National Service with the Ghana Lands Commission after tertiary education. Sampson Boakye Addei is a compassionate, hardworking and outgoing person that loves hanging out with family and friends.

Humble beginnings

The inspiration to produce yoghurt came about from an encounter with a yoghurt vendor who encouraged him to explore the market due to its potential to generate income.

His sense of adventure and entrepreneurial spirit drove him to consider the business prospects of the idea which made him drop out of tertiary school in third year to learn yoghurt production.

With that advice and dream of becoming a successful Entrepreneur, he converted one room in his mumā€™s house; a two bed apartment into a yoghurt production hub. He later formed an ambitious team who believed in the vision and expanded further till they moved production out of his motherā€™s house.

Yogafresh currently has forty (50) employees and thrives on relationships and networking to promote the business
