Mustapha Abdul-Hamid: I’ve not commented on Meek Mill’s music video

The NPA boss is reported to have praised the rapper for projecting Ghana on the global stage with his new video

Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the chief executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has rubbished reports suggesting he has defended the controversial music video shot at the Jubilee House by American rapper Meek Mill.

The NPA boss is reported to have praised the rapper for projecting Ghana on the global stage with his new video.

“We thank God that Meek Mill saw value in the Jubilee House, took photos and some short clips and added them to his freestyle video for the whole world to see the magnificence of such a beautiful edifice,” the alleged Facebook post said.

“There are people in this country who donā€™t see any value in that building, turned it into a warehouse at some point, and have promised to turn it into a poultry farm. Bloody hypocrites! Confused lot,” it said.

Reacting to the development on Facebook, Abdul-Hamid said,Ā  “I have not made any such comment and it is absolutely wrong for this news website to attach my picture to this story. Please take note, and kindly ignore this fake news platform.”

Apology

Meanwhile, Meek Mill has apologised after sparking an uproar in Ghana over the music video filmed in the country’s presidential palace – also called Jubilee House.

Local media had reported that people were enraged over what they viewed as theĀ “desecration”Ā of the presidency by Meek Mill and the security issues regarding the filming of a music video in such a high-profile building.

The video was reportedly first posted on Meek Mill’s Instagram account on Sunday.

On Monday, the rapper tweeted an apology to Ghanaians and the presidency.

He said: “My apologies to the people if any disrespect… My apologies to the office also.”

“We still gonna push to make the connection between black people in America and Africa… what I’m trying to do is more than a video and you should see coming soon!”
