NIA boss: Over 800,000 Ghana Cards remain uncollected

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (6 July), the executive secretary of NIA Prof Kenneth Agyeman Attafuah commended some MPs for supporting the NIA to ensure it distributes the cards

The executive secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah has expressed concerns over the bulk of uncollected Ghana Cards at the NIA offices across the country.

Attafuah said over 800,000 printed Ghana Cards remain uncollected in its offices across the country.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (6 July), Attafuah commended some MPs for supporting the NIA to ensure it distributes the cards.

“We have 631, 000 from the mass registration period, now the figure has gone up because of injection of new cards that we have printed. We have 800,000 cards, and some Members of Parliament and MMDCEs have helped people to go get their cards,” he said.

Attafuah added: “They have helped by providing fuel, vehicle and logistics to get our people to move from the offices into communities on market days and churches to issue these cards.”
