One dead as military truck runs into shops in Zebilla

The leadership of the police and military in Bawku have launched an investigation into the happenings leading to the accident

A Saturday evening road accident involving a military truck in Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region has left one resident dead and several others with life-threatening injuries.

The military truck going at top speed from Bolgatanga was heading to Bawku when it reportedly hit a pothole and lost control.

It skidded off the road in the process and ran into nearby shops, destroying them.

A motorcyclist using the road was swept from behind by the speeding truck, killing him on the spot.

Among the injured are traders and shopkeepers.

The police and military leadership in the Bawku area who arrived at the horrific scene have launched an investigation into happenings leading to the accident.
