Otumfuo invited to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral

Queen Elizabeth, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, died on Thursday (8 September) in Balmoral, Scotland, at the age of 96 after reigning for 70 years

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has received an invitation from King Charles III to attend the events marking the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, died on Thursday (8 September 2022) at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She was aged 96 and had reigned for 70 years.

An invitation sighted by www.asaaseradio.com said, “The protocol directorate, acting on behalf of the Household of His Majesty the King, has the honour to have been instructed to issue personal invitations as set out in the following schedule: His Majesty the King of the Ashanti and spouse/partner.”

In 2018 Otumfuo Osei Tutu II hosted the then Prince Charles (as the Prince of Wales) at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
