Africa Prosperity Dialogues will not be a talk shop, says APN boss

At the Africa Prosperity Dialogues, business leaders and politicians will discuss the threats to trade and commerce that could be mitigated by government interventions

The executive director of the Africa Prosperity Network (APN), Eugene Owusu has said the Kwahu Summit 2023 taking place in Ghana will provide a platform where decisions will impact positively on society.

A host of high profile personalities including heads of state and CEOs are attending the summit also known as Africa Prosperity Dialogues series from 26 to 28 January 2023. The theme for the conference is “AfCFTA: From Ambition to Action – Delivering Prosperity through Continental Trade.”

Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (18 January), Owusu said the summit is structured such that it will be partially restricted to some businesspeople to brainstorm on ideas that will help improve on trade in Africa.

“We also want to make sure that we learn by doing,” Owusu told the ABS host Kwaku Nhyira-Addo. “So, the participants who come truly are the ones who have something to offer.”

“This is not going to be a fashion show and we truly don’t want this to be a talk shop. We also want the dialogue to be action-oriented. We have been deliberate with the people we have invited. So, I’m afraid it’s partially restricted and not for everyone,” Owusu said.

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues

The Africa Prosperity Dialogues (Kwahu Summit) is a strategic platform where the movers and shakers of the African economy will elevate the AfCTA objectives from ambitions to real actions.

The Summit will be a one-of-a-kind event happening from 26th to 28th January, where African leaders from diverse areas of national endeavour will gather each year to discuss and share experiences on issues and initiatives required for Africa to achieve the goal of shared prosperity and shape the Africa Agenda for Action.

The maiden Summit would focus on how to expedite the implementation of the agreed initiatives within the AfCFTA trade bloc. It will bring into practical focus the continent’s critical challenges and industrialization priorities and advance aggressively the commercial and infrastructural interventions to achieve the vision of an Africa Beyond Aid.
