PICTURES: Chief Imam confers with Asantehene at Manhyia Palace

The Chief Imam was in the Ashanti Region following the passing of the regional zongo chief, Sultan Umar Farouk, on Thursday (23 February)

The national Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, has commiserated with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, over the death of the Ashanti regional zongo chief, Sultan Umar Farouk.

Farouk died on Thursday (23 February 2023) at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi after a short illness.

The visit by the Chief Imam coincided with the second Awukudae of the year, which fell on 1 March. He also used the opportunity to say a prayer for the king.
