NSA requested GHC150,000 booking fee for Shatta Wale’s concert, Sammy Flex alleges

This figure purportedly includes charges for essential services such as lighting, ambulance provision, and other logistical requirements

The manager of the self-acclaimed dancehall King Shatta Wale, Sammy Flex, has raised concerns about alleged unequal treatment regarding payments for the Accra Sports Stadium.

At a Public Account Committee hearing on 6 February 2024, the director general of the National Sports Authority, (NSA) Professor Peter Twumasi, stated that Afro-dancehall star Stonebwoy paid GHC70,000 for the Accra Sports Stadium booking for his Bhim Concert in December 2023.

Contrary to the GHC 70,000 figure captured in the NSA’s accounts and declared by the NSA boss, Sammy Flex has alleged that the NSA requested a GHC150,000 booking fee for Shatta Wale’s Freedom Wave Concert, which was supposed to be held at the same venue.

This figure purportedly includes charges for essential services such as lighting, ambulance provision, and other logistical requirements.

Sammy Flex questioned the accuracy of NSA boss Professor Peter Twumasi’s statements before Parliament, where he claimed Stonebwoy paid the lower amount.

It would be recalled that Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Abiola, firmly denied the GHC70,000 figure. In an interview on Hitz FM, the manager of the ‘Manodzi’ crooner said:

“To be very honest with you, these are contractual matters and usually, I wouldn’t want to engage in a public space but the Public Accounts Committee is a very serious committee that, got before the committee so I wouldn’t want to be here on radio to state otherwise.”

He added, “But what I can tell you is that I was delegated by Stonebwoy to lead the charge in terms of doing the negotiations and payment of the stadium. I can also tell you for a fact that yes we paid more than GH₵70,000 for the stadium but I mean I am just watching the issues unfold so I wouldn’t want to disclose in detail for now. I hope you bear with me,”
