We believe in the digitalisation vision of Bawumia, says AGI

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) says the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has a very persuasive and laid out plan to help him attain his 2025 vision.

“I believe it was very persuasive and laid out to aid him to attain the said goal,” Humphrey Ayim-Darke, the president of the Association of Ghana Industries said.

Ayim-Darke said he believes in Dr Bawumia’s digitalisation vision.

“This communication, demonstrating that all manner of examples that are captured and seeking to use things for the tax reforms has been one of the themes of competitiveness in our industrial states.”

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday (8 February), Ayim-Darke said, “But I specifically distinguish the vision from the past records. Per the vision, it deliberately catalogues what it needs to do.”

“This is the new order of the day. If you go down to Asia, all the Asia magic that is happening is going through the IT world.”

“There’s a clear linkage between the IT world and agriculture, whereby you use technology to enhance irrigation, and distribution of products from the farm.”

According to him, Bawumia needs to talk about the processes he will undergo to transform Ghana with IT in his manifesto.

“… he could also drive down how to use smart factories in the production spaces on the factory floor, using the Kaizen system.”

“Let us see the details, the “hows” of how to use this IT world or the various e-commerce to create between the farmgate and the consumer.”

“Today, you cannot totally take out IT from production. The application of each of the stages, how it is executed, those are the issues that industries would seek to find out from Dr Bawumiah.”

“How do I use that IT and the e-commerce and the infrastructure that you have articulated clearly to pick up my value chain? That is a new world order, and therefore, let’s anticipate the vision as captured, “Ayim-Darke added.
