Pigfarm: Woman killed by stray bullet in police operation

A woman has been killed by a stray bullet at Pigfarm, following a police operation in the area, an official statement has said.

The incident occurred on Saturday during a police operation targeted at arresting a criminal gang linked to a number of robberies.

A statement issued by the police said personnel of the service had visited the family of the lady to commiserate with them, adding that it will continue to support them in this difficult times.

“The police with deep sense of sadness have commiserated with the family of a lady who lost her life during an anti-robbery operation conducted at Pigfarm, a suburb of Accra.

“Unfortunately, however, during the Saturday morning operation, a stray bullet accidentally, hit a lady. She was taken to the hospital, but sadly, she was pronounced dead on arrival.”

“Once again, we wish to express our sincerest and deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” the statement noted,” the police statement said.

Meanwhile the police have vowed to continue with the exercise after arresting two of the gang members.
