The Oti regional police command has commenced investigations into the tragic death of a four-year-old boy, Richmond Mbelbicy, which occurred on Monday 5 June in Asante Akura in the Krachi East municipality of the Oti Region.

Mbelbicy ran into a speeding vehicle with registration number WR 3112-19, at Asante Akura near Kpelema.

The body of the deceased was taken to Worawora Government Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Oti regional motor traffic and transport division of the Ghana Police Service has taken the case up and arrested the driver of the vehicle, Isaac Asante Wiafe.

The body of the deceased has been released for burial.

The headman of the community, Unikple Majoin, has appealed to the government to construct speed rumps, especially after Nantwi-Akura to Asante-Akura to protect pedestrians.

Community members who spoke to Asaase News bemoaned over-speeding by drivers, saying the construction of speed rumps will address the problem.
