GPL: Samartex beat Hearts of Lions to go top, Aduana slip to second

Samartex 1996 FC have gone top of the Ghana Premier League table after beating bottom-placed Hearts of Oak Lions two-nil at home on Sunday coupled with Aduana’s defeat at Nations FC.

Two second half goals from Emmanuel Mamah and Evans Osei-Wusu ensured that Timber Giants maintained their perfect record at home to take a two- point lead at the top of the league standings.

Heart of Lions remain bottom of the standings as they continue the search for their first win of the campaign.

Aduana FC earlier on Saturday suffered their third defeat in five games as Nations FC extended their winning streak to five games, winning 2-1 at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.

Elsewhere, Ten Man Karela United  returned to winning ways with a one-nil success at Nsoatreman.

Legon Cities were 3-1 winners over Real Tamale United.

Stephen Amankona’s penalty gave Berekum Chelsea a one-nil win over Great Olympics.

Third placed, Bechem United were the biggest winners, they beat Accra Lions four-nil to extend their unbeaten run to five games.
