Ghana’s representative for the Miss Geek Africa competition, Selasi Ama Domi-Kuwornu, has won the first prize among 7 countries that participated in the competition at the Transform Africa Summit in Zimbabwe.

The competition is aimed at inspiring more girls to take up science, technology, engineering and math education and careers to contribute meaningfully to solving the continent’s challenges using technology.

Miss Geek Africa is an entrepreneurship competition that originated from Rwanda in 2014, and has expanded to 22 countries in Africa.

Girls and women between ages 13 and 25 submit apps that solve problems through technological innovations. The winner receives financial support to help her realise her innovation. Girls in ICT Rwanda are the organisers of the event.
