Sokoban murder: AG receives docket of ‘killer’ house help

This follows the conclusion of investigations into the matter and the receipt of an autopsy report on the cause of death

The docket on John Allister, the house-help who allegedly killed his boss at Apaaso near Sokoban in Kumasi has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Department for advice.

This follows the conclusion of investigations into the matter and the receipt of an autopsy report on the cause of death.

The key suspect and his accomplice James Anokye were arrested, charged and arraigned over the death of 35-year-old Stella Osei aka Afia Ahenkan early last month.

The prosecution led by ASP Stephen Ofori, appearing before the Asokore Mampong District Court today, told presiding judge Samuel Buabin Quansah that the docket on the case had been forwarded to the AG and prayed for an adjournment.

The court consequently granted the request and remanded the suspects into custody. The case has been adjourned to 31 October 2023.

Armed policemen were deployed to the court to maintain law and order. John Alister is serving a 20-year jail term after he was convicted by the Asokwa Court for stealing. Afia Ahenkan’s family wants the murder case expedited in the interest of justice.

“What we the family are expecting is justice. As I always say, justice delayed is justice denied. This guy has already confirmed that he has committed the crime, so we don’t need any delay. We want them to do it fast and do it faster. We are willing to follow this case everywhere and to every extent,” the family said through a spokesperson Lorrencia Kontoh.
