Former Ghana Football Association boss Jawula passes on

Lepowura Mohammed Nuru Deen Jawula superintended the Black Starlets’ FIFA Under-17 World Cup triumph in 1995 in Ecuador

The former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Lepowura Mohammed Nuru Deen Jawula has died.

The football administration veteran, who had reportedly been ill for some time, passed away on Saturday night in the United States of America, the GFA confirmed.

Asaase Sports understands he was flown out to the US to continue treatment for an unnamed illness, having spent some time at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra.

The Ghana FA, an organisation the late M N D Jawula led from 1997 to 2001, said it was saddened by his death and commiserated with the family in a post on Twitter.

Lepowura superintended the Black Starlets’ FIFA Under-17 World Cup triumph in 1995 in Ecuador.

Until his death, Alhaji Jawula was the chairman of the Premier League Management Committee (PLMC).

In private life, Alhaji Jawula was also the Lepowura of the Kujolobito Gate of Lepo-Kpembe in the Northern Region.
