Commissioner General of GRA assures public of uninterrupted service after fire outbreak

The Acting Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Ammishadai Owusu Amoah, has assured the public of uninterrupted service after a fire outbreak. Fire gutted the large tax payers’ office of the Ghana Revenue Authority in the morning of Sunday, 01 December 2019. The office located near the Kwame Nkrumah circle caught fire at about 8am. After nearly five hours of the inferno, the fire services department aided by the military managed to tame the fire.

The premises houses 280 staff of the GRA, and is said to have been holding about GHS 147 Million. However the acting Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Mr Amisshaddai Owusu-Amoah has refuted the claims of data or cash burnt on the premises. In a short address, the Commissioner General assured the public of no such losses.

Business Continuity – Uninterrupted Services

He went on to further assure the public of its sound business continuity and disaster recovery systems. The systems according to the Commissioner General would ensure uninterrupted service to the public. Outlining the business continuity procedures he has advised the public and all who deal with the gutted GRA office to report to the Kinbu office which has an annex to house the staff. The staff at razed down office would report to the Kinbu office on Monday, 03 December 2019, to work.

The cause of the GRA fire is not yet known.
